Digital Fairness Act — announced
Status: PROPOSAL / ANNOUNCED. ⚠️ VERIFY — the Digital Fairness Act was announced by the Commission as a forthcoming initiative to address dark patterns, addictive design and unfair personalisation in consumer-facing digital services. Confirm the proposal reference, text and timeline against the latest Commission documents before relying on any detail here.
Expected to build on the 2024 Digital Fairness Fitness Check of EU consumer law, targeting practices not fully covered by the DSA or the consumer acquis:
- Dark patterns and manipulative interface design.
- Addictive design features (infinite scroll, engagement loops), especially for minors.
- Unfair personalised pricing and profiling-based practices.
- Problematic influencer-marketing practices.
